Privacy Policy

        Short version: DevNotz collects only what it needs to run the service — your email address and the notes you write. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or share your information with third parties beyond what is required to send transactional emails.
      

1. Who We Are

DevNotz ("we", "us", "our") is a free, cloud-based markdown note-taking application available at devnotz.com. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@devnotz.com.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide the service:

Account information — your email address and a hashed (bcrypt) password when you register.
Note content — the titles and content of the notes you create and save.
Usage data — last login timestamp and login count, used solely to display account statistics.
Contact messages — if you submit a message via the "Contact Us" form, we store the message type, subject, and body to respond to you.

We do not collect your name, phone number, address, payment information, or any information beyond the above.

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and authenticate your account.
To store and retrieve your notes.
To send transactional emails (password reset, contact form confirmation) via Resend.
To respond to support or feedback messages you send us.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the service.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a SQLite database on our server. All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plain text. Authentication uses short-lived JWT tokens stored in your browser's local storage.

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We recommend using a unique, strong password for your DevNotz account.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party service:

Resend (resend.com/privacy) — for sending transactional emails only (password resets and contact form receipts). Resend receives your email address solely to deliver these messages.

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other tracking or advertising service.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

DevNotz does not use cookies. We use your browser's localStorage to store your JWT authentication token so you remain logged in between sessions. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to third parties.

7. Data Retention

Your account data and notes are retained for as long as your account exists. If you delete a note, it is permanently removed from our database. If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at hello@devnotz.com and we will process the deletion within 7 business days.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate data (e.g., update your email address).
Delete your account and all associated data.
Export your notes at any time by copying them from the app.

9. Children's Privacy

DevNotz is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of DevNotz after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
